The Area Nicaragua's South Western Coastline
Guasacate Beach or Popoyo, is an isthmus or spit of sand between the pacific ocean and the salt flats dividing the community of Las Salinas de Nauhalapa. This area hosts an under rated rivermouth beachbreak at it's entrance, where a single dirt road which ends at the Salinas Estuary will
connect one to the infamous waves of Popoyo and the Outer Reef.
North towards the bay of El Astillero, is another wave zone. With its beautiful views of the Chococente National Wildlife Refuge, this sparsely populated area is one of the most important turtle nesting beaches in the Americas, endless sunsets and unspoiled beaches, takes ones breath away.
South from Guasacate and around Sardinas Point lies large scale private property developments that stretch from Rancho Santana down past Los Perros, Rancho Iguana, Selva del Mar, Arenas Tola, Guacalito de la Isla, and beyond towards the Growing Port of San Juan del Sur and its many beach communities and developments.
